McGraw Takes Favorite Country Album Award at AMAs
(November 28, 2006) LOS ANGELES Congratulations are in order as Tim McGraw and Faith Hill each took home awards from the 2006 American Music Awards held November 21, 2006. Faith won the award for Favorite Female Artist at the event, and McGraw took home the trophy for Favorite Country Album for his current release, Tim McGraw Reflected: Hits Vol. 2. McGraws album, his second greatest hits package, features both past hits and new material recorded with his road band, the Dancehall Doctors.
The album had some stiff competition from both the old and new schools. The Legend of Johnny Cash casts a large shadow even after Cashs death, and the more recent success of Rascal Flatts with the album Me and My Gang made the fan-voted win even more notable.
Its really gratifying, said McMahon, McGraws longtime keyboardist and backup vocalist. When we first entered the recording studio with McGraw a few years ago, there was a lot of skepticism. Many did not understand his decision to record with the band. To have seen it succeed, and to know that it all started with Tim s faith in what we could do together É it really makes me proud.
The three-hour ceremony was televised live and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. This star-studded event crossed all musical genres and featured performances by artists such as Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, Lionel Richie, Barry Manilow, and Gwen Stefani.
