I'VE GOT FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES
A book chronicling the success of country superstar Tim McGraw’s
album, Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors, was released under
the same name. Jeff McMahon, Baylor 1987, keyboardist
and vocalist with the road band Dancehall Doctors, has been touring with
McGraw since 1993, but the recent album marked the first time McGraw and
the band had recorded together. The album’s 90-day promotional tour
wrapped with more that $30 million in sales. The Dancehall Doctors were
also nominated for an award at the 2002 Academy of Country Music Awards.
(Correction: Jeff McMahon was nominated for a musician award at the
2002 Academy of Country Music Awards. Tim McGraw and the Dancehall
Doctors was nominated for an award at the Country Music Association
Awards in 2003.)
